Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an exclusive interview, emphasized the need for big thinking to achieve significant goals, envisioning benefits for India a thousand years into the future. “This is Bharat’s time, which should not be squandered,” he stated, highlighting a blueprint for India 100 years after Independence as a foundation for long-term development.
PM Modi stressed the necessity of rethinking bureaucracy, stating that “promotion should not be the only target.” He elaborated, “Change is necessary in the recruitment and training of officers—they should know the purpose of their lives.”
PM Modi reiterated his commitment to combining heritage (Virasat) and development (Vikas), a vision he first shared from the ramparts of the Red Fort. “What’s happening now will take India towards a brighter future for the coming 1,000 years. This is Bharat’s time, and we must not lose the opportunity,” he emphasized.
The Prime Minister revealed that the government is already working on a comprehensive blueprint with significant public input. “We have done a very big exercise, a mega brainstorming. Some officers who were part of it have retired. We have taken suggestions from ministers, secretaries, and experts,” he said. These plans are divided into actionable phases: 25 years, 5 years, 1 year, and 100 days.
PM Modi’s vision for India’s future extends beyond the 75th anniversary of Independence, aiming towards the 100th anniversary. “I was not thinking of 75 years. I was thinking of 100,” he told NDTV, encouraging institutions to plan long-term. “What will you do when the country turns 100?” he asked various organizations, including the Reserve Bank of India.
Emphasizing the importance of thinking big, PM Modi discussed his observations of youthful enthusiasm and his plans to harness it. “In the coming days, I want to focus on connecting with the youth, instilling a habit of dreaming big, and helping them realize those dreams. I believe these efforts will bring results,” he said.
As Phase 5 of the Lok Sabha elections approaches, with two more phases to go, PM Modi confidently predicted that the NDA will secure a historic mandate, claiming 400 seats are already assured. Addressing Opposition claims that the NDA would change the Constitution with such a majority, he dismissed them as baseless. “Linking 400 seats and the Constitution is stupidity. The issue is they don’t want the House to function,” he remarked.
