Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi echoed the call for high voter turnout in the fourth round of Lok Sabha polls, aiming to aid the INDIA bloc’s government formation.Phase 4 polling for 96 seats in 10 States and Union Territories commenced at 7 a.m. on May 13, with Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Jammu and Kashmir participating. Over 17.7 crore voters are eligible across 1.92 lakh polling stations.
Over 1,717 candidates, including Giriraj Singh, Akhilesh Yadav, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, and Mahua Moitra, are contesting in this phase. The IMD forecasts normal temperatures, with the Election Commission ensuring voter comfort with water and fans.
Phase 4 marks polling completion for 379 seats across 23 States and UTs. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4, 2024.
