Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the biggest star campaigner of the ruling BJP, will arrive at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial off the coast of Kanyakumari on May 30 and may leave for Delhi on June 1, the last day of polling.
Modi will mark the end of his campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 with a 48-hour spiritual retreat at Tamil Nadu’s Vivekananda Rock Memorial. He is expected to meditate at the Dhyan Mandapam, the hall at the Memorial, from the evening of May 30 to the evening of June 1.
The Memorial holds spiritual significance as Swami Vivekananda meditated here for three days, achieving enlightenment. It is located about 500 meters off the mainland, at the meeting point of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea.
The seven-phase Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will conclude on Wednesday, May 30, with the results to be announced on June 4. Polling for 486 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats concluded at the end of the sixth phase on May 25. The seventh and final phase of polling will take place on June 1, involving 57 constituencies across eight states and UTs.
The BJP-led NDA is seeking a record third term under Modi, aiming to win 400 seats. The ruling alliance is challenged by the opposition parties under the INDIA bloc, led by the Congress.
Varanasi, the constituency in Uttar Pradesh held by PM Modi, will also go to polls on June 1.
In 2019, PM Modi was photographed meditating in a holy cave near Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, ahead of the Lok Sabha Election results. The BJP won a clear majority, securing 303 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha in 2019.
