Prime Minister Narendra Modi swiftly responded to Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole’s remarks regarding the Ram Temple, questioning the appropriateness of such statements in politics. Speaking at a rally in Odisha’s Bargarh, Modi highlighted Patole’s comments following President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
“After our President, Draupadi Murmu, visited the Ram Temple and sought blessings for the country’s welfare, one of the prominent leaders of the Congress party stated that they would purify the Ram Temple with Gangajal. Do individuals making such statements deserve a place in Indian politics?” Modi remarked, as reported by ANI.
Expressing dismay over the alleged disrespect shown towards President Murmu, Modi urged for severe consequences, stating, “I want the Congress party, which insulted President Droupadi Murmu ji, to have its deposits forfeited on all seats. This is an insult to the country, tribal society, and our mothers and sisters.”
Furthermore, Modi accused Congress of harbouring intentions to amend the Constitution, specifically targeting the reservation rights of SCs, STs, and OBCs. He assured the audience that their rights would be safeguarded under his leadership, emphasizing his own background as an OBC Prime Minister and the constitutional protection provided by an Adivasi woman.
