Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna has been summoned by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating a sex abuse case involving him. Revanna, the Janata Dal (Secular) MP from Karnataka’s Hassan, tweeted that he was not in Bengaluru to attend the inquiry and requested seven days to appear before the SIT, citing that he is currently abroad.
Revanna, seeking re-election from Hassan, is the grandson of JD(S) leader and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. The SIT was established to investigate a large cache of explicit videos and photos allegedly involving Revanna that went viral on social media before the elections.
The MP’s lawyer has communicated his request for more time to the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the SIT, stating that Revanna is not in Bangalore and is unable to attend the inquiry at present.
After the explicit materials surfaced, the Karnataka government formed the SIT at the request of the Karnataka State Commission for Women chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhary.
In addition to the videos and photos, a separate case has been registered against Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna, the Holenarasipura JD(S) MLA and Prajwal’s uncle, following a complaint from their former cook, who alleges sexual harassment. She also claims Prajwal Revanna made inappropriate video calls to her daughter, leading her to block him.
