Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned why Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had stopped mentioning industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani since the declaration of the Lok Sabha elections.
In response, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi criticized the remark, asserting that her brother continues to speak about Adani and Ambani daily.
During an election rally in Rae Bareli, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the Modi government of waiving ₹16 lakh crore in loans for billionaires while farmers in Uttar Pradesh struggle with debt and, in some cases, suicide. Follow full coverage of the Lok Sabha elections.
“Today, Narendra Modi said that Rahul Gandhi is not mentioning Adani’s name. The truth is that Rahul Gandhi discusses Adani every day, revealing the truth about Adani and exposing him,” Priyanka Gandhi stated.
Priyanka Gandhi added that Rahul Gandhi informs the public daily about the alleged “nexus” between the Prime Minister and large industrialists.
“Rahul Gandhi tells you daily that Narendra Modi has a close relationship with big industrialists. Narendra Modi waived ₹16 lakh crore for his friends but did not forgive a single rupee of farmers’ debt. Narendra Modi should answer this,” she said.
What PM Modi Said
In a counterattack against Rahul Gandhi’s accusations of crony capitalism, Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday questioned why Rahul Gandhi had stopped discussing Adani and Ambani since the Lok Sabha elections were declared.
Modi also speculated whether “loads of money” had been transferred to Congress and questioned what might have prompted the sudden change in Rahul Gandhi’s stance on Ambani and Adani.
“Since the elections were announced, they (Congress) have stopped criticizing Ambani and Adani. I want to know from Telangana: how much money has been lifted from Ambani and Adani? Has Congress received loads of cash? What agreement has been made that led to the immediate halt of attacks on Ambani and Adani?” he asked.
Modi added, “It seems suspicious. For five years, they criticized Adani and Ambani, and then it stopped overnight. It implies they have received some ‘loot.’ The nation needs answers.”
