Amid ongoing investigations into irregularities in the NEET exam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested journalist Jamaluddin from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Alongside this arrest, the CBI conducted searches at seven locations in Gujarat, including Godhra, Kheda, Anand, and Ahmedabad.
The arrest follows earlier CBI actions on June 27 in Bihar, where two individuals, Manish Prakash and Ashutosh, were detained for allegedly facilitating candidates with leaked NEET papers at a boys’ hostel in Patna.
On June 28, the CBI apprehended the principal and vice principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh in connection with the same case.
The CBI is currently investigating six cases related to the NEET paper leak, with cases spanning Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and three from Rajasthan.
The NEET-UG 2024 exam, organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA), was held at 4,750 centers across 571 cities, with over 24 lakh candidates participating. Following the results announcement on June 4, allegations of irregularities surfaced, particularly concerning 67 students who scored top marks amidst claims of question paper leaks in Bihar.
