PM Modi at G7 Summit, Italy: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s commitment to highlighting the concerns and priorities of Global South countries at the G7 Outreach event on Friday. He stated, “India has considered it its responsibility to put the priorities and concerns of countries of the Global South on the world stage.” Modi also highlighted India’s G20 presidency, under which the African Union was made a permanent member of the grouping. He stressed the importance of international governance in the field of AI, a key discussion point at the G20 Summit hosted by India last year.
Day 2 Highlights: On the second day of the summit, PM Modi held discussions with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Modi, in his first foreign trip of his third term, arrived in Italy early on Friday to attend the outreach session focusing on issues related to artificial intelligence (AI), energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. He showcased the scale of Indian elections, describing them as “the biggest festival of democracy in the world,” and framed his “historic victory” as a “victory of democracy” and “victory of the entire democratic world.”
