Celebrations for International Yoga Day 2024 have commenced in Srinagar, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Despite a delay due to rain, the event is now underway indoors, with PM Modi performing a 30-minute yoga session. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlights yoga’s essential role in promoting individual well-being and societal harmony.
Prime Minister Modi addressed the nation, emphasizing the global significance of yoga. Originally scheduled to speak on the banks of Dal Lake, the venue was changed to an indoor location due to continuous rain.
Over the years, PM Modi has led Yoga Day events at iconic locations such as Delhi’s Kartavya Path, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, and Jabalpur. Last year, he led the celebrations at the UN Headquarters in New York, drawing significant attention to this year’s program in Srinagar.
