A day before the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) was postponed, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) issued a caution notice to candidates about recent findings. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) announced on Saturday that the NEET PG 2024 exam would be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced soon. This decision was made due to recent allegations concerning the integrity of competitive examinations in the country. The ministry stated that a thorough evaluation of the NEET-PG processes would be conducted.
On June 21, just one day before the postponement, NBEMS revealed that a routine investigation by its officials uncovered attempts by fraudulent individuals to deceive NEET PG candidates on social media. These scammers claimed they could provide exam questions in exchange for a significant amount of money.
“NBEMS has filed a police complaint against these fraudsters and their associates for attempting to deceive NEET-PG aspirants by offering NEET-PG 2024 questions for a substantial fee,” the board stated in its caution notice. Candidates were warned not to be misled by these claims, and the board emphasized that any involvement in such activities would be “dealt with appropriately.”
The ministry highlighted that allegations about the integrity of several competitive examinations influenced the postponement decision. These include UGC NET, the national-level eligibility test for Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professorship, and PhD admissions, which was cancelled due to a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating this matter. Additionally, the CSIR NET, another national-level competitive examination, was postponed just days before its scheduled date due to “logistical reasons” and “unavoidable circumstances.”
