The central government has informed the Supreme Court that the decision to grant grace marks to 1,563 candidates in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 has been revoked. This announcement was made on June 13, following protests from students and concerns about irregularities in the examination process.
Initially, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had awarded grace marks to these candidates to compensate for the time lost due to delays in starting the exam at several centres. However, this decision faced backlash, leading to its reversal.
The Centre also stated that the affected students would have the option to retake the examination on June 23. This announcement comes amidst ongoing protests by NEET aspirants, who gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 12 to voice their grievances over the alleged mishandling of the NEET-UG examination.
