The day after voting concluded for the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a busy Sunday ahead with seven key meetings on various topics, according to sources.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to hold a review meeting on the post-cyclone situation, focusing on the northeastern states. This session will assess the damage caused by the recent cyclone ‘Remal’, coordinate relief efforts, and plan for the long-term rehabilitation of the affected areas.
PM Modi will also chair a meeting to finalize preparations for World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5. Established by the United Nations in 1972 during the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, World Environment Day aims to raise awareness and promote actions for environmental protection. This year’s theme is ‘land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience,’ with Saudi Arabia as the host country.
Before launching his major election campaign, PM Modi instructed top bureaucrats to prepare for decisions to be taken in the first 100 days of his third term. He emphasized that all tough decisions will be made early, rather than waiting for the final 100 days before the 2029 elections.
