Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed his 45-hour-long meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday, June 1. During his spiritual visit, Modi meditated at the Dhyan Mandapam, where Swami Vivekananda is believed to have had a divine vision of ‘Bharat Mata.’
This event coincided with the conclusion of polling for the final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Modi’s visit to Kanniyakumari, the southernmost tip of India where the Eastern and Western coastlines meet, and where the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea converge, was seen as a symbolic gesture of national unity. He arrived in Kanniyakumari on Thursday, May 30.
Meanwhile, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav dismissed Modi’s spiritual activity as mere “photo shoots.” “Modi ji isn’t doing any meditation, only photo shoots are happening. Once the photo shoot ends, they will come back,” Yadav remarked.
Modi concluded his election campaign in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur on Thursday, wrapping up his efforts for the final and seventh phase of the Lok Sabha polls set for June 1. Over 75 days, he held around 206 campaign events, including rallies and roadshows, and gave approximately 80 interviews to various news and media outlets.
The Prime Minister is known for undertaking spiritual journeys at the end of election campaigns. In 2019, he visited Kedarnath, and in 2014, he went to Shivaji’s Pratapgarh. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections, involving 543 seats, are being held in seven phases starting April 19, with the vote counting scheduled for June 4.
