The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a partly cloudy sky with a chance of light rain or drizzle in Delhi on June 23. The national capital has experienced some relief from the intense heatwaves of recent weeks, with temperatures expected to reach a high of 40 degrees Celsius and a low of 30 degrees Celsius today. There are no warnings for heatwaves or heavy rainfall for the next two days.
The IMD has also indicated heavy rainfall over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry in the coming days. Heatwave conditions are likely to persist in isolated areas of West Uttar Pradesh from June 22 to 25 and in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on June 24 and 25, before subsiding.
For the next five days, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for heatwaves on June 25 and 26, with forecasts of generally cloudy skies and the possibility of light rain and thunderstorms for the other three days. Temperatures in Delhi next week are expected to hover around 41 degrees Celsius for the high and 28 degrees Celsius for the low, with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph on June 27 and 28.
The Southwest Monsoon is anticipated to advance into Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and parts of East Uttar Pradesh within the next three days. Conditions are favorable for the monsoon to progress further into Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh over the next 72 hours.
In Delhi, the monsoon is expected to arrive around June 30. IMD scientist Naresh Kumar mentioned that dust storms and light rain might occur in Delhi even today.
