Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, inaugurated the Ideas4LiFE portal today at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, in the presence of Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh. The portal invites innovative ideas for products and services aimed at promoting environmentally friendly lifestyles.
Addressing the audience, Shri Yadav encouraged students, researchers, and faculty to contribute creative solutions that align with the Prime Minister’s vision of mindful resource utilization. He emphasized that this initiative is a significant opportunity for individuals to engage in the global Mission LiFE, dedicated to environmental sustainability.
Shri Yadav stressed the importance of Mission LiFE, noting that while nature provides us with essential resources in their purest form, our outputs often pollute these resources. He called for introspection and action to preserve nature for future generations, highlighting our collective responsibility to ensure the sustainable use of resources.
The Ideas4LiFE portal, accessible at ‘Ideas4Life.nic.in’, will allow participants to submit their ideas online. Winning entries across seven themes of Mission LiFE—Save Water, Save Energy, Reduce Waste, Reduce E-Waste, Say No to Single-Use Plastics, Adopt Sustainable Food Systems, and Adopt Healthy Lifestyles—will receive recognition and attractive prizes.
In conjunction with the portal launch, Shri Yadav participated in the ‘EkPedMaaKeNaam’ (Plant4Mother) movement by planting a sapling at the IIT Delhi campus, an initiative started on World Environment Day, June 5th.
The Ideas4LiFE Ideathon aims to engage educational institutions, including UGC, AICTE, IITs, and other universities, in promoting eco-friendly practices.
The event saw over 1000 participants, including students, researchers, and academic faculty, and was attended by senior dignitaries such as Secretary (EF&CC) Smt. Leena Nandan, UGC Chairman Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, AICTE Chairman Prof. T G Sitharam, and IIT Delhi Director Prof. Rangan Banerjee.
