The Central Water Commission (CWC) has been awarded the GEEF Global WaterTech Award in the category of ‘Water Department of the Year’ at the esteemed Global Water Tech Summit 2024, organized by the Global Energy and Environment Foundation (GEEF) in New Delhi.
This award recognizes significant achievements in the water sector across various categories, honoring innovation, technology, conservation, and sustainable development in water, wastewater, and desalination sectors.
The Global Energy and Environment Foundation acknowledged CWC’s crucial role in hydro-meteorological data collection, flood forecasting, reservoir storage monitoring, water quality monitoring, coastal area management, and the evaluation and monitoring of water resources projects. Additionally, CWC’s efforts in resolving inter-state water issues were highlighted.
The foundation also recognized CWC’s new initiatives, such as collaborating with Water Resources, Irrigation, and Jal Shakti Departments across States and UTs to enhance synergy, serving urban hydrology needs, building state officials’ capacities, developing Extended Hydrological Prediction (EHP) capabilities, and creating the mobile app ‘Floodwatch India’ for public flood information dissemination.
At the summit, CWC Chairman Shri Kushvinder Vohra provided a comprehensive overview of India’s water resources, emphasizing industry expectations to foster innovation and sustainability in water management. This award underscores CWC’s dedication to excellence and ongoing efforts to advance water technology and resource management.
