These benefits include age relaxation in state public services recruitment, horizontal reservation, and industrial subsidies for employers hiring Agniveers.
Agniveers will receive a three-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for government posts in Groups B and C. The first batch of Agniveers will receive a five-year relaxation.
The state will offer a 5% horizontal reservation in direct recruitment to Group C civil posts and a 1% reservation in Group B. A 10% reservation will also be provided for roles like Constable, Mining Guard, Forest Guard, Jail Warden, and Special Police Officers (SPOs).
To promote private sector recruitment, the government will offer a subsidy of ₹60,000 per annum to industrial units paying Agniveers a salary exceeding ₹30,000 per month.
Launched in June 2022, the Agnipath scheme recruits personnel below officer rank for four years in the Indian armed forces. After this period, up to 25% of Agniveers may be selected for permanent service based on merit. Agniveers receive salaries, risk and hardship allowances, and a severance package of approximately ₹11.71 lakhs from the Seva Nidhi fund.
In the event of an Agniveer’s death on duty, their family is entitled to ₹1 crore, including the Seva Nidhi amount, and full pay for the remaining service period. Injured Agniveers may receive compensation up to ₹44 lakh, depending on the injury’s severity.
