The operation began when an ICG Dornier aircraft on maritime surveillance located the distressed boat on the night of July 16, 2024. Responding swiftly, the ICG District Headquarters No 4 (Kerala & Mahe) redirected the patrolling ICG ship Saksham to assist the vessel. Additionally, the ICG deployed another ship, Abhinav, and an Advanced Light Helicopter to aid in the rescue efforts.
A technical team from the ICG boarded the distressed boat to carry out de-flooding operations and provide necessary assistance. The coordinated efforts resulted in the successful rescue of all crew members and the stabilization of the vessel.
Following the rescue, the boat was handed over to the Fisheries Department. This operation highlights the ICG’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of India’s maritime zones.
