The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Gujarat and Uttarakhand over the next three days. Gujarat is expected to experience significant downpours from July 21-24, while Uttarakhand will see heavy rainfall during July 21-22.
Additionally, the IMD has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in multiple states, including Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.
Forecasts predict heavy rains in Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh until July 24. Vidarbha will experience heavy rainfall on July 21 and 22, and Chhattisgarh and coastal Karnataka are expected to get heavy rains today.
For July 21, heavy rainfall is also predicted in North Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana.
In Delhi, the minimum temperature recorded was 26.4 degrees Celsius, with light rain expected during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to reach around 37 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 98% as of 8:30 am. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the moderate category at 106, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
The IMD also forecasted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in various districts of Himachal Pradesh, including Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Kullu.
Heavy rainfall is also predicted for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from July 20-22, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar on July 22-23, and Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Coastal & South Interior Karnataka over the next five days.
