The Indian Army reported the elimination of three terrorists during an anti-infiltration operation near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The strategic Chinar Corps confirmed the successful operation in a post on X, stating that weapons and other war-like stores were recovered.
The operation is ongoing, and the identities of the slain terrorists have not yet been disclosed. An official from the police control room in Kupwara mentioned that they had not received detailed information about the operation.
This incident follows a week after security forces neutralized six terrorists in two separate encounters in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on July 6 and 7, which also saw the loss of two Indian soldiers. Four terrorists and one soldier were killed in Chinigam on July 6, and another soldier and two terrorists in Modergam on July 7.
Previously, on June 23, security forces killed a terrorist during an anti-infiltration operation near the LoC in Uri sector, Baramulla district. The Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt by a group of terrorists in the area, leading to an exchange of fire near Basgrain village.
In April, two infiltrators were killed by the Army in Uri near Rustam post. The Army later accused Pakistani forces of providing cover fire to the infiltrators near Sabura nullah on the LoC in the Uri sector. This was the first infiltration attempt of the year, successfully averted by the vigilant Indian forces.
