Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, speaking at the FICCI’s National Executive Committee Meeting in New Delhi today, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for receiving Russia’s highest civilian award, the ‘Order of St Andrew the Apostle’. He emphasized that this achievement underscores India’s adept handling of international relations. Shri Goyal urged the industry to collaborate with the government to elevate India-Russia bilateral trade to $100 billion by 2030.
Highlighting his upcoming visit to Switzerland, Shri Goyal expressed his focus on achieving a $100 billion foreign direct investment (FDI) target under the India-EFTA Trade & Economic Partnership Agreement. He stressed the importance of surpassing this commitment through concerted efforts from Indian industries to build strategic partnerships.
Shri Goyal reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving a $2 trillion export target by 2030, citing India’s stable economy and favorable macroeconomic indicators. He highlighted significant growth in patents and emphasized the government’s investment in innovation and research.
Discussing infrastructure development, Shri Goyal outlined plans for a substantial push to improve basic amenities like road and railway connectivity, electricity, and water through initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission. He underscored how these efforts would enhance quality of life for underserved communities and support economic growth.
Emphasizing sustainability, Shri Goyal encouraged industry leaders to participate in initiatives such as the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and promote environmental responsibility. He urged practical actions to reduce plastic usage and emphasized industry-government collaboration to combat corruption and improve ease of doing business in India.
