The Ministry of Education marked the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020 with the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2024 at the Manekshaw Centre Auditorium, New Delhi. The event was graced by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Education and Minister of State (IC) for the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, along with Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education and Development of the North Eastern Region. Also in attendance were Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, alongside academicians, Vice Chancellors, officials, and students.
During the event, several publications from the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Division were released to promote IKS among educators and learners.
Faculty Training Program Compilation:
A comprehensive collection of lecture notes from the Faculty Training Program for Master Trainers in IKS. Convened by Shri Anurag Deshpande and Shri S. Sriram of the IKS Division, this book spans topics such as Philosophical foundations of IKS, Tantrayukti methods, and discipline-specific subjects like Chemistry, Agriculture, Ayurveda, Mathematics, Nitishastra, Panchantra, and IPR in IKS. Contributions come from 12 distinguished IKS scholars.
“Kautilya’s Arthashastra: Timeless Strategies for Modern Governance”:
Authored by Vinayak Rajat Bhat, Associate Professor at Chanakya University, and Tejusvi Shukla, Former Research Associate at Chanakya University, this book offers a modern interpretation of Kautilya’s statecraft principles, enhanced with contemporary examples and visual aids. It aims to bridge ancient wisdom with modern governance practices.
“Marma Kannadi: Decoding the Human Body the Siddha Way”:
Written by Gurukkal Dr. S. Mahesh, a 5th generation Kalari and Siddha practitioner, this book explores the teachings of sage Agasthya, focusing on marmas, the body’s energy centers, and providing insights into Siddha medicine, Kalaripayattu, and Varmakalai.
“Shodha Vijaya”:
Additionally, a report on the state of the Indian Knowledge Systems and Heritage (IKS & H) Industry by Prof. Mohan Raghavan from IIT Hyderabad was unveiled. This report projects the IKS & H industry to become a trillion-dollar sector within the next decade, driven by a unified Indic identity and heritage across various segments like Culinary, Textiles, Tourism, and Ayurveda.
The ABSS 2024 continues the tradition set by its inaugural event in Varanasi in July 2022, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The event aims to facilitate the effective implementation of NEP 2020, foster strong linkages among higher educational institutions, and address challenges faced by HEls.
