The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024, providing a center-wise breakdown of scores. This decision came after a Supreme Court order from a bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, mandating the results be released by noon on July 20. The court’s directive emphasized transparency while ensuring student identities remain confidential. Students can access their results on the official NTA NEET website at exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/ and neet.ntaonline.in.
Supreme Court’s Role in NEET-UG 2024 Transparency
The Supreme Court, with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra also on the bench, instructed the NTA to publish city and center-wise results. This order followed a petition urging greater transparency in the examination process. The court stated, “Publishing the results center-wise will bring about some transparency regarding the marks obtained by candidates while ensuring the identities of students are masked.”
The court will continue hearing pleas concerning allegations of paper leaks and malpractices in the NEET-UG 2024 exams on July 22. Petitioners raised issues of question paper leaks, compensatory marks, and anomalies in the exam.
NEET-UG 2024 Examination Overview
NEET-UG, organized by the NTA, is a nationwide exam for admissions into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and related courses in both government and private institutions across India. The 2024 exam was conducted on May 5, across 4,750 centers, with approximately 24 lakh candidates appearing.
