Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday criticized the Opposition for engaging in “negative politics” and trying to silence his voice in the last Parliament session. He called on Opposition leaders to participate constructively as the Budget Session commenced, emphasizing that Parliament serves the nation, not individual parties.
Addressing the media before the session, Modi stated that the upcoming Union Budget would outline a five-year roadmap aimed at achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. He urged all MPs to move past their electoral battles and focus on national progress over the next five years.
Modi expressed regret that many MPs had been unable to discuss their constituencies due to what he described as the Opposition’s misuse of Parliament. He referenced an incident from the previous session when protests and sloganeering hindered his response to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address, criticizing this as undemocratic and without remorse.
Modi highlighted the historical significance of his government presenting the first Budget of its third term, marking nearly 60 years since such an event. He described this as a proud moment in India’s democratic journey.
