Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a goal to transform Maharashtra into a major global financial powerhouse and establish Mumbai as a leading fintech hub.
During an event in Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi criticized the opposition for allegedly spreading false narratives that hinder development, investment, and job creation. He cited a recent RBI report that claimed 8 crore new jobs were created in the past 3-4 years, asserting that these figures disprove the opposition’s claims. “These false narratives oppose investment and infrastructure development, but now they are being exposed, and citizens are rejecting these conspiracies,” Modi stated. The event also marked the commencement of development projects worth over ₹29,400 crore.
The Prime Minister also responded to past criticisms from the Congress party regarding the Atal Setu bridge, which was alleged to have structural issues. He emphasized the improvement of Mumbai’s connectivity, highlighting the completion of the coastal road and Atal Setu. “Despite attempts to halt it, the Atal Setu is now used by around 20,000 vehicles daily, saving approximately ₹20,000-25,000 lakh in fuel costs per day,” he added.
Expressing his vision for Mumbai, Modi reiterated his aim to make the city a global fintech capital, leveraging Maharashtra’s strengths in industry, agriculture, and finance to enhance India’s self-reliance. “The NDA government is known for providing stability and durability. After my third term oath, I promised that the NDA would work at triple the pace,” Modi said, referencing his recent address to the Indian diaspora in Moscow.
The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
