New Delhi, India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Russia from July 8th to 9th, 2024, marking his first official trip to the country since the onset of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022. The visit coincides with the 22nd annual India-Russia summit, where PM Modi will engage in crucial discussions.
During his stay, Russian President Vladimir Putin will host a private dinner in honor of PM Modi, underscoring the bilateral ties between the two nations. Additionally, PM Modi will visit the Rosatom Pavilion at an exhibition venue in Moscow, highlighting cooperation in nuclear energy between India and Russia.
The India-Russia summit, established following President Putin’s visit to India in 2000 under the leadership of then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, alternates between the two countries and plays a pivotal role in strengthening diplomatic relations. This summit marks a significant diplomatic engagement after a hiatus of three years, with the last meeting held in December 2021 during President Putin’s visit to India.
