Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj to Contest All 243 Seats in Bihar Assembly Elections, Transforming into Political Party on October 2
Renowned political strategist Prashant Kishor has announced that his grassroots campaign, Jan Suraaj Abhiyan, will evolve into a formal political party on October 2, ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. This strategic shift will enable the new party to contest all 243 seats in the upcoming elections.
To prepare for this significant transformation, Jan Suraaj has planned a series of eight state-level meetings over the next few weeks. These gatherings will bring together over 1.5 lakh campaign officials from across Bihar. The primary agenda includes finalizing the party’s formation, establishing its leadership structure, drafting its constitution, and setting the party’s priorities.
A crucial meeting of district- and block-level office bearers took place in Patna today, laying the groundwork for these initiatives. Kishor, known for his strategic expertise in Indian politics, has been the driving force behind the Jan Suraaj campaign, which aims to bring transformative change to Bihar by addressing key issues like education, healthcare, and employment.
The party’s launch date, October 2, is symbolically significant as it coincides with Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, underscoring the campaign’s commitment to grassroots activism and political reform.
As Jan Suraaj prepares to enter the political arena, it aims to challenge the current political landscape in Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar faces massive anti-incumbency, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has struggled to expand beyond his traditional Muslim-Yadav vote bank. The RJD has already shown signs of concern, issuing a circular warning its members against associating with Jan Suraaj. In response, Jan Suraaj shared a screenshot of the letter on its X handle, highlighting RJD’s nervousness about the new party’s potential impact.
