The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted significant rainfall in multiple states today. A yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai and Delhi, warning of heavy precipitation. Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra are expected to experience isolated extremely heavy rainfall over the next two days, with continued heavy to very heavy rainfall thereafter. Rainfall activity is also expected to increase over the Indo-Gangetic plains during this period.
Over the next five days, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is anticipated in several regions, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Punjab, and West Uttar Pradesh.
- Heavy Rainfall in Delhi and Noida:
- Delhi-NCR witnessed heavy rainfall early Wednesday, bringing relief from humid conditions. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the national capital, indicating more showers later in the day.
- Specific areas covered in the forecast include Delhi University, Civil Lines, Kashmiri Gate, Seelampur, Shahadra, Vivek Vihar, Patel Nagar, Red Fort, Preet Vihar, Budha Jayanti Park, and the President’s House. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 36 degrees Celsius, with minimums near 27 degrees Celsius.
- Extremely Heavy Rainfall in Gujarat:
- Central Gujarat, south Gujarat, and Saurashtra districts, including Kutch, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Gir Somnath, are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two days. Significant rainfall figures were reported on Tuesday, with Dwarka taluka in Devbhumi Dwarka district recording 158 mm, Mandvi taluka in Kutch with 141 mm, and Jodia in Jamnagar with 134 mm.
- Persistent Showers in Rajasthan:
- Eastern Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Kota, and Ajmer divisions, will see rainfall over the next four to five days. Western Rajasthan, including parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions, will also experience showers. High moisture levels will keep the weather humid, but maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius. Notable rainfall figures include Bhopal Sagar, Chittorgarh, with 98 mm, and Tivri, Jodhpur, with 92 mm.
- Other Regions:
- Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and East Rajasthan on July 24. Heavy rainfall is also expected over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Rajasthan from July 23-27, and in West Uttar Pradesh and Jammu on July 24. Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions will persist in West Rajasthan for the next 24 hours.
