Today, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Colleges of Excellence, constructed at a cost of Rs 486 crore across all 55 districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Shri Shah emphasized that achieving a developed India by 2047 is impossible without a robust educational foundation. He credited Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for introducing the New Education Policy (NEP) in 2020, which anticipates the educational needs for the next 25 years. The NEP focuses on the holistic development of youth rather than just awarding degrees, teaching both academic and life skills.
The NEP aims to foster innovative thinking in students rather than traditional orthodox approaches. Recognizing today’s generation’s familiarity with the Internet, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Analytics, the policy includes practical, skill development, and vocational training components.
Madhya Pradesh was the first state to translate engineering and medical science curricula into the mother tongue, benefiting many students. Shri Shah highlighted that the state has now also implemented the NEP, setting a benchmark for other states.
The newly inaugurated colleges offer students the flexibility to pursue multiple disciplines, such as Biotechnology, Computer Science, Culture, and Arts, based on their interests. Courses like B. Ed and B.Sc. Agriculture have been introduced, with the latter connecting youth to agriculture and creating self-employment opportunities. Collaborations with prestigious institutions like IIT Delhi are also in place.
Shri Shah noted that Indore, known for its cotton and cleanliness, is now progressing towards becoming an educational hub, with advancements in the pharma, automobile, textile, and food processing sectors.
Shri Shah urged students to set clear goals and work diligently towards them, emphasizing that hard work is crucial for success. He highlighted that the NEP aligns India’s education system with global standards and focuses on generating ideas rather than rote learning.
Shri Shah concluded by expressing confidence that by 2047, India will lead globally in various fields, with today’s educational reforms laying the groundwork for this achievement. He appealed to the youth to embrace the opportunities provided by the Pradhan Mantri Colleges of Excellence and the New Education Policy to build a successful future.
