Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the 54th Pre-Retirement Counseling (PRC) workshop organized by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare in Jammu. Dr. Singh emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the ease of living for pensioners and acknowledged their significant role in India’s Vision 2047.
He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government recognizes pensioners and senior citizens as key contributors to nation-building.
The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare conducts these workshops across the country to support Central Government employees approaching retirement, as part of its good governance initiatives. The 54th workshop, held at the State Convention Centre in Jammu on July 19, 2024, saw participation from over 340 Central Government and CAPFs retirees from Jammu & Kashmir.
During the workshop, attendees received vital information on retirement benefits and the pension sanction process. Dr. Singh spoke about the department’s citizen-centric approach and the introduction of technological platforms like Bhavishya, CPENGRAMS, and Digital Life Certificates, which have revolutionized services for pensioners. He also mentioned the Anubhav Portal, which compiles the experiences of retiring employees to aid knowledge and capacity building.
Various sessions covered topics such as the BHAVISHYA Portal, Integrated Pensioners Portal, retirement benefits, family pension, CGHS process, income tax rules, investment options, and digital life certificates. A detailed session on investment planning and CGHS benefits was also provided to help retirees manage their post-retirement plans effectively.
Banks like SBI, PNB, and J & K Bank participated in an exhibition to offer pension-related banking services and guide retirees on opening pension accounts and investment options.
The workshop concluded with a commitment from the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare to continue such initiatives, ensuring a smooth transition for Central Government retirees and keeping them informed about government benefits and services available post-retirement.
