The initial autopsy report reveals that the victim was sexually assaulted before being murdered. The report detailed severe injuries, including bleeding from her private parts, eyes, and mouth, as well as multiple injuries across her body. The victim’s neck was found broken, indicating strangulation followed by smothering.
The tragic incident occurred between 3-6 am while the doctor was on duty. According to a colleague, she had dinner with her juniors around 2 am before heading to the seminar room to rest, as there was no separate on-call room. Her lifeless body was discovered the following morning.
In response to this horrific crime, senior Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee called for the introduction of a bill in parliament to fast-track the trial and conviction of rapists and murderers, advocating for severe punishment. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also demanded the death penalty for the perpetrator and expressed openness to a probe by any central agency.
