The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) successfully concluded its inaugural Advanced Leadership Development Programme on Public Policy and Governance for civil servants from the FIPIC and IORA nations. The event, held at NCGG, New Delhi, from August 5th to August 16th, 2024, hosted 40 high-ranking officials from Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Madagascar, Fiji, Kenya, Maldives, and Mozambique. Participants, including Director Generals, Secretaries, District Administrators, and senior officers, represented key ministries and institutions in their respective countries.
Shri V. Srinivas, Director General of NCGG and Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), presided over the valedictory session. He highlighted how the exchange of knowledge and experiences during the program will empower the participants to improve governance and public policy implementation in their home countries. He also stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation among these nations. The presentations made by the participants underscored their learnings and the potential impact on achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their countries.
Denise A. Clarisse, Director General of the Ministry of Local Government from Seychelles and leader of the delegation, expressed her gratitude towards the Indian government and NCGG. She emphasized how cross-country knowledge sharing enriched their understanding of equitable policymaking and practical implementation strategies. Clarisse also praised India’s innovative practices in areas such as healthcare, digitalization, and the Aadhar system, noting how these experiences will be valuable in shaping policy back home.
Dr. B.S. Bisht, Associate Professor at NCGG and Course Coordinator, provided a comprehensive overview of the program. He outlined sessions that covered a wide range of themes, including the geopolitical and economic potential of FIPIC/IORA countries, Vision India 2047, cyber security policies, public policy implementation, and innovations in district administration. Field visits to places like ITDA Dehradun, the Indian Parliament, and the Taj Mahal were integral parts of the program, offering a holistic learning experience.
This training marks NCGG’s contribution to capacity building for civil servants from 23 countries, including Bangladesh, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and others.
The valedictory session also saw the presence of Smt. Prisca Poly Mathew, Chief Administration Officer at NCGG. The program was coordinated by Dr. B.S. Bisht, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Shri Brijesh Bisht, Ms. Monisha Bahuguna, and the dedicated NCGG teams.
