The National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME), under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, has been honored with an “UTKRISHT” 3-Star Accreditation Certificate by the Capacity Building Commission (CBC). This prestigious recognition was awarded following a thorough evaluation of the institute’s adherence to the National Standards for Civil Services Training Institutions (NSCSTI). The assessment involved a detailed review of NI-MSME’s Standard Operating Procedures and Methodologies across various levels, conducted by a team from CBC and ICARE.
During the Civil Services Training Institutions (CSTI) Convention held on August 12, 2024, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, the Director General of NI-MSME received the Accreditation Certificate from Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology; Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions; Atomic Energy; Space & Prime Minister’s Office. This event was part of the felicitation of Accredited Civil Services Training Institutions.
Established in 1962, NI-MSME has been a trailblazer in entrepreneurship and skill development, significantly contributing to the growth and success of MSMEs. The institute operates through its four Schools of Excellence: the School of Enterprise Development (SED), the School of Enterprise Management (SEM), the School of Entrepreneurship & Extension (SEE), and the School of Enterprise Information & Communication (SEIC).
NI-MSME’s influence extends beyond India, benefiting numerous developing countries through its expertise and collaboration with global organizations such as UNIDO, UNDP, DCAC, UNESCO, ILO, CFTC, UNICEF, AARDO, and GIZ. The institute has established specialized Centers of Excellence, including the National Resource Centre for Cluster Development (NRCD), which has played a crucial role in the development of over 150 MSME clusters. Recently, NI-MSME launched two additional Centers of Excellence: FinRISE (Financial Research & Innovation for Sustainable Enterprises) and a Biochar Unit.
Over the years, NI-MSME has trained 5,71,068 participants through 16,902 programs for officials from various central and state government ministries. Additionally, it has provided skill training to 1,85,224 unemployed youth across 6,139 Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Programs (ESDPs). The institute has also been implementing the ITEC Scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs since 1967, training 11,019 international executives from 145 developing countries. To date, NI-MSME has completed over 959 research and consultancy projects, further solidifying its role as a leader in MSME development.
