On August 29, 2024, a significant meeting took place between Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary of DARPG and DG of NCGG, and Mohamed Nasih, President of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) of Maldives. The meeting focused on finalizing the details for renewing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the Maldives, aimed at training Maldivian civil servants over the next five years (2024–2029). The discussion was attended by senior officials from both the CSC Maldives and the NCGG.
The MoU, originally signed on August 9, 2024, in Malé, Maldives, was renewed by India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and the Maldives’ Foreign Minister, Mr. Moosa Zameer. This agreement, part of the ongoing development partnership, outlines the training of 1,000 Maldivian civil servants, including high-level officials and delegates, through the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG).
In 2024, the NCGG successfully conducted 32 capacity-building programs for Maldivian civil servants, covering various areas including field administration, anti-corruption, and information commission training. This achievement has led the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives to request a renewal of the MoU for an additional five years.
The renewed MoU will focus on customizing training programs to meet the specific needs of middle and senior-level civil servants in Maldives. The NCGG will design tailored modules based on these needs, with five specialized programs planned for 2024-25 targeting 175 civil servants.
The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) continues to emphasize knowledge exchange and collaboration in public policy and governance. Its programs are designed to enhance citizen-centric governance, service delivery, and innovations, while showcasing India’s advancements in digital empowerment and institutional transformation.
