The body of a 15-year-old student was discovered hanging from a litchi tree in an orchard near Hanuman Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Rosera police station in Samastipur district. The deceased has been identified as Kanhaiya Kumar, the son of Pappu Das, and a Class VIII student at a local government high school.
Family members of Kanhaiya Kumar have alleged that he was murdered and then hung from the tree to disguise the crime as a suicide. They claim the motive behind the killing was a dispute related to a love affair involving another individual. The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who blocked the Rosera-Sindhia Road to protest the murder and demand the immediate arrest of those responsible.
According to Sonal Kumari, SDPO of Rosera, Kanhaiya was last seen attending a musical event at a fair held for Nag Panchami on Sunday night. When he failed to return home by Monday morning, his family began searching for him. His body was eventually discovered in the orchard by local residents. The police have since initiated an investigation, and the body has been sent for an autopsy at the Sadar Hospital.
SDPO Kumari noted that the precise cause of death will be confirmed once the postmortem report is available. The family has named two individuals in their complaint, alleging that Kanhaiya was involved as a mediator in a love affair that led to a dispute and ultimately his murder. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to resolve the case.
