Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Poland on August 21-22 and Ukraine on August 23, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West) at the MEA, announced in a briefing that Modi’s visit to Poland is notable as it marks the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited the country in 45 years. The trip coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Poland. Modi will be in Poland at the invitation of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Regarding his upcoming visit to Ukraine, Lal highlighted that this will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 30 years. Modi’s visit on August 23, at the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, builds on recent high-level interactions between the two countries.
The MEA reiterated India’s stance on the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for resolving the crisis between Russia and Ukraine. Lal stated that India maintains a consistent position advocating for a negotiated settlement to achieve lasting peace and continues to engage with all relevant stakeholders.
