Sanjay Roy, the accused in the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case, has been described in his psychoanalytic profile as displaying “animal-like instincts” and a complete absence of remorse. According to a CBI officer, Roy is also identified as a “pervert” with a severe addiction to pornography.
During his interrogation, Roy recounted the details of the crime with unsettling calmness, revealing a disturbing lack of regret. The officer noted that Roy’s narrative of the events was delivered with unnerving detail and without any visible signs of remorse.
The victim, a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was attacked while resting in the hospital’s seminar hall during her shift. The post-mortem report indicates she suffered from severe physical trauma, including 16 external and nine internal injuries, and was ultimately strangled.
Sanjay Roy was apprehended shortly after the crime, with evidence placing him at the scene. CCTV footage captured him entering the building around the time of the murder, and his Bluetooth headphones were found near the crime scene. Additionally, several pornographic videos were discovered on his mobile phone.
The CBI’s ongoing investigation is considering whether there may have been a larger conspiracy involved in the crime. They have questioned former RG Kar Medical College principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh and are contemplating polygraph tests for Roy, Dr. Ghosh, and others. The Kolkata Police are also investigating allegations of financial misconduct related to Dr. Ghosh.
