New Delhi: On August 13, 2024, Sandeep Poundrik officially took charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Steel at Udyog Bhawan. A 1993-batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, Shri Poundrik was warmly welcomed by senior officials of the Ministry upon his arrival.
Before this appointment, Shri Poundrik served as Additional Chief Secretary in the Industries Department of the Government of Bihar, where he also managed several other key responsibilities. His extensive experience includes roles as an Advisor in the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs and as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Shortly after assuming his new role, Shri Poundrik held a meeting with senior officers to assess the progress of the steel sector in India.
