Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday (August 20) strongly opposed the practice of lateral entry into civil services, calling it an attack on social justice that limits opportunities for deserving candidates from marginalized communities like SC, ST, OBC, and minorities.
Stalin emphasized that the Union Government must discontinue this system and instead focus on filling long-pending vacancies reserved for backward classes and ensuring fair promotion policies for all.
In addition, he demanded the removal of the Creamy Layer concept in reservations, while also urging the immediate revision of the current ceiling. Stalin argued that these changes are essential to preserve social justice and maintain equitable representation in government positions
