The 7th India International Hospitality Expo (IHE 2024) was inaugurated today at the India Expo Centre & Mart by Union Minister for Tourism & Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. In his keynote speech, Shri Shekhawat highlighted the significance of IHE 2024, noting that the event has been instrumental in advancing India’s hospitality industry over the past six years. IHE serves not only as an exhibition but as a central hub for the hospitality industry, facilitating networking, idea exchange, knowledge sharing, and international success.M
Shri Shekhawat emphasized that tourism has the potential to help India achieve the status of the third-largest economy. With abundant resources to support a world-class tourism sector, tourism stands as the largest employment generator after agriculture. The sector offers diverse and new business opportunities, and IHE provides the perfect platform to explore them. India can establish itself as a perennial destination, with MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) playing a crucial role. The development of this sector is vital, with every participant playing a key role in bridging gaps.
He further remarked, “Our Government is committed to excelling in tourism and hospitality. The World Heritage Committee meeting, organized within 40 days of the government’s formation, saw participation from representatives of 170 countries. India is emerging as a center of attraction.” He also praised the IHE leadership’s efforts to propel the hospitality industry forward.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries including the Ambassador of Myanmar, H.E. Moe Kyaw Aung; Chief Trade Counsellor of the Embassy of Vietnam, Mr. Bui Trung Thuong; Shri Premal Mehta, Director of Aakar Exhibition and Resident Commissioner, Government of Himachal Pradesh, Ms. Meera Mohanty; Mr. Bharat Sawnami, Director of Tops India; Ms. Sonia Prashar, Managing Director of Nurnberg Messe; Chairman of India Expo Centre & Mart, Shri Rakesh Kumar; and Show President of IHE, Shri Hari Dadoo, along with prominent figures from the hospitality industry.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman of India Expo Centre & Mart, announced a collaboration with Vietnam as a Partner Country, facilitated by Mr. Bui Trung Thuong, Trade Counsellor at the Embassy of Vietnam. Vietnamese exhibitors will showcase their products, and chefs will conduct masterclasses on their native cuisines. Additionally, Himachal Pradesh has been designated as the ‘Focus State,’ highlighting its potential at the event.
IHE 2024 continues as India’s premier hospitality expo, running from August 3 to 6, 2024. With over 1,000 exhibitors and more than 20,000 B2B buyers, including luxury hotels, resorts, homestays, restaurants, cloud kitchens, and the F&B sector, IHE 2024 aims to set new industry standards. This year, the expo is co-located with major events such as Catering Asia, Tent Décor Asia, BIOFACH, and AYURYOG EXPO, offering a comprehensive platform for the hospitality sector.
The expo features a wide range of products and services across various categories, including HoReCa, Operating Supplies & Equipment, Hospitality Technology, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping & Janitorial, Maintenance & Engineering, Furniture, Fixtures, and Facilities Management. The four-day Hospitality Sourcing Gala also includes exciting culinary competitions such as the Pastry Queen India Competition, Master Bakers Challenge India 2024, and India Pizza League Championship.
