In a tragic incident during a cordon and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, two soldiers lost their lives, and three others were injured in an encounter with terrorists on Saturday. The confrontation occurred in the dense Ahlan Gagarmandu forest, a remote part of the Kokernag area.
Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). As the security forces advanced, terrorists hiding in the forest opened fire, leading to a fierce gunfight.
The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and taken to a nearby hospital, where two of them succumbed to their injuries. Reinforcements have been deployed, and the operation to neutralize the terrorists is ongoing.
The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps had earlier shared updates on the operation, confirming the injuries and the ongoing efforts to address the situation.
