In a significant step towards enhancing efficiency in India’s power sector, Union Minister of Power and Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, today launched the Portal for Online Monitoring of Projects – Thermal (PROMPT) in New Delhi.
During the launch event, Minister Khattar highlighted the critical role of electricity in driving economic growth across the country. With the rising demand for power, timely completion of ongoing thermal projects is essential. The new PROMPT portal aims to streamline project management by offering a transparent, coordinated, and effective platform for the power sector.
The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has been actively monitoring the progress of under-construction power projects through site visits, interactions with developers, and regular review meetings. The introduction of PROMPT takes these efforts a step further by digitizing the monitoring process, providing power project developers with a modern tool for tracking progress and addressing issues more efficiently. The portal has been developed with the support of NTPC.
- Real-Time Tracking and Analysis: The platform allows project managers and stakeholders to monitor all aspects of thermal project execution, enabling early detection and swift resolution of potential challenges.
- Enhanced Transparency and Accountability: By digitizing the monitoring process, the portal promotes transparency in project management, reducing time and cost overruns and improving overall efficiency.
- Resource Optimization: The platform helps ensure the availability of resources, aiding in the timely fulfillment of the country’s electricity needs while keeping costs reasonable for consumers.
To ensure the smooth adoption of PROMPT, hands-on training sessions have been conducted for project developers. Many developers have already begun using the portal to submit data monthly, further strengthening the monitoring process.
The Ministry of Power continues to prioritize innovative digital solutions that enhance the transparency, efficiency, and reliability of India’s power sector, ensuring affordable electricity for all.
