Visakha Steel General Hospital (VSGH) at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has kicked off a week-long celebration for World Breastfeeding Week 2024, from August 1st to 7th, aimed at raising public awareness.
Today’s program, held in the VSGH conference hall, featured the release of breastfeeding education posters and flyers by Dr. A.P. Naveen Kumar, GM (Medical & Health Services) and Head of Department, and Dr. P.K. Gautam, DGM (Med) – General Surgery.
Gynaecologist Dr. Sujatha Guttala delivered a detailed presentation on various breastfeeding positions and techniques, emphasizing the biological position, cue feeding, and the benefits of colostrum and breast milk for both infants and mothers.
Pediatricians Dr. S. Rajashekar and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, along with gynecologists Dr. Radha Kumari and Dr. Sunitha Hanumanthu, conducted an interactive session with the audience.
A role-play by VSGH nurses effectively communicated the importance of breastfeeding, highlighting key messages.
In his address, Dr. A.P. Naveen Kumar underscored the significance of breastfeeding and the critical role of hospital staff and family support in ensuring a positive breastfeeding experience for mothers.
The event saw active participation from the general public, doctors, and medical staff of VSGH.
