The Supreme Court has instructed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit a revised report on the Kolkata rape-murder case by next Tuesday. The directive comes after the CBI raised concerns about the forensic report, emphasizing that the question of “who collected the samples” is crucial.
During today’s proceedings, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, representing the CBI, announced that the agency plans to send the samples to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi for further analysis.
Mehta detailed that the forensic examination revealed that when the victim was discovered at 9:30 am, her jeans and undergarments were found removed and lying nearby, alongside visible injury marks on her body. He noted that while samples had been initially sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in West Bengal, the CBI decided to forward the samples to AIIMS and additional labs for comprehensive testing.
