Heavy rainfall is anticipated in Delhi today, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert. Following yesterday’s heavy showers that caused significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions, the city is bracing for more rain.
In addition to Delhi, the IMD has also issued yellow alerts for West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and both West and East Rajasthan.
For the rest of the week, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and Chandigarh are expected to see clearer skies. However, East Uttar Pradesh is forecasted to experience heavy rain on Friday, with clear weather on the other days. In West Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, with no further warnings thereafter.
Uttarakhand and both West and East Rajasthan could continue to see substantial rainfall through Saturday. Meanwhile, regions such as Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh are likely to remain clear for the rest of the week.
On Monday, Delhi experienced heavy rain that led to waterlogging and traffic jams. Areas such as National Highway-48, Press Enclave Road, and Ring Road were particularly affected, causing delays and congestion. Additionally, an uprooted tree near Amity School disrupted traffic on Birla Vidya Niketan Marg in Saket.
