As the Haryana assembly elections approach, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha has underscored the importance of a mutually beneficial arrangement in the ongoing alliance negotiations with the Congress party. According to PTI, Chadha revealed that discussions between AAP and Congress are progressing positively but have not yet reached a consensus.
Chadha, who has been actively involved in the negotiations, stated that the formation of a pre-poll alliance hinges on achieving a “win-win situation” for both parties. “The talks are taking place in a constructive environment. Both parties are focused on uniting to address the needs of Haryana’s electorate, putting aside individual party and candidate interests,” Chadha told PTI.
He emphasized that the specifics of seat-sharing arrangements are still under discussion. “We cannot provide minute-by-minute updates on seat negotiations. However, both parties are committed to forming an alliance and are hopeful for a positive outcome,” Chadha added.
Chadha also mentioned that a decision on the alliance would be made before the September 12 deadline for nominations. He stressed that if a satisfactory agreement cannot be reached, AAP may opt out of the alliance. “The discussions are ongoing, and I remain optimistic that we will arrive at a favorable conclusion,” he said.
Reports suggest that AAP has requested 10 seats in the Haryana elections, while Congress is prepared to offer seven. Congress’s Haryana in-charge, Deepak Babaria, indicated that while negotiations with AAP are underway, other parties, including CPI(M) and the Samajwadi Party, have also expressed interest. “We are evaluating their requests and will respond accordingly,” Babaria stated.
The Haryana assembly elections are scheduled for October 5, with the vote counting set for October 8.
