In line with the Government’s push for enhanced cleanliness and hygiene, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has been actively leading a nationwide cleanliness campaign. From December 2023 to August 2024, the Ministry organized 757 events, resulting in the removal of 2,982 files, freeing up 19.07 lakh square feet of space through scrap disposal, and generating revenue of Rs. 69.37 crore from the sale of scrap. These efforts have significantly improved workplace environments, optimized space management, and contributed to revenue generation.
Previously, during Special Campaign 3.0, the Ministry excelled in its cleanliness initiatives, securing 2nd place for space cleared through scrap disposal, which amounted to 21 lakh square feet, and 5th place for revenue earned, totaling Rs. 4.66 crore from the sale of redundant materials.
Looking ahead, the Ministry is preparing for Special Campaign 4.0, scheduled from October 2 to October 31, 2024. It is currently finalizing locations in collaboration with Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and Autonomous Bodies (ABs) under its purview to meet the campaign’s objectives.
Additionally, the Ministry, together with its CPSEs and ABs, recently observed Swachhata Pakhwara from August 16 to August 31, organizing various activities to highlight the importance of a clean and healthy environment. It is also participating in the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, which runs from September 17 to October 1, 2024. This campaign will focus on targeted cleanliness drives in identified areas, engaging the community to raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and cleanliness.
