Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on September 5, 2024, emphasized India’s ambition to replicate Singapore’s success across its own territories during his visit to Singapore. In a meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Modi highlighted Singapore’s role as a key partner in India’s ‘Act East’ policy and expressed his desire to create numerous Singapore-like success stories within India.
During the visit, Modi and Wong oversaw the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), including one focused on enhancing semiconductor supply chain resilience. Additionally, Modi announced the forthcoming establishment of the Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre in Singapore as part of the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations next year.
Later in the day, Modi is scheduled to meet with Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and engage with local business leaders.
