Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a vibrant entrance in Singapore on Wednesday, showcasing his dhol-playing skills to a delighted Indian community. Upon arriving at Changi Airport from Brunei, he was warmly received by the Indian High Commissioner to Singapore, Shilpak Ambule, along with Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, and other officials.
As he arrived at his hotel, the Indian diaspora gave him a hearty welcome. In the midst of the festivities, PM Modi demonstrated his dhol talents, adding a personal touch to the celebrations.
During his visit, PM Modi will engage in discussions with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong about the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership, as well as other regional and global issues of mutual concern, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). He is also scheduled to meet with Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and interact with local business leaders.
Before arriving in Singapore, PM Modi was on an official trip to Brunei, where he held extensive talks with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties, including expanding trade and commercial relations. PM Modi also inaugurated the new Indian High Commission chancery in Bandar Seri Begawan and visited the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
The Secretary East of the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaideep Mazumdar, noted that the talks in Brunei covered a broad range of topics, including defense, trade, investment, space, energy, health, and cultural exchanges.
