Today, I begin my inaugural bilateral visit to Brunei Darussalam, marking the 40th anniversary of our diplomatic relations. I am eager to engage with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other distinguished members of the Royal Family to enhance our long-standing relationship.
Following Brunei, I will travel to Singapore on 4 September. I look forward to meeting President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. Additionally, I will connect with leaders from Singapore’s dynamic business sector.
These discussions will focus on deepening our Strategic Partnership with Singapore, with particular emphasis on advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development.
Both Brunei and Singapore are key partners in our Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific Vision. I am confident that this visit will further strengthen our ties with both nations and enhance our engagement with the broader ASEAN region.
